What areThe Smartest Dog Breeds? Get You Answer

Everyone who owns a relatively smartest dog breeds who learns to do tricks easily and remembers them, thinks that their dog is the smartest dog breeds. This is especially true when the dog can perform on demand for friends and family to show off its prowess.

Smartest dog breeds provide human beings with hours of fun and entertainment and, for the most part, our canine companions enjoy the attention they get when they perform tricks and obey commands.

However, the smartest dog breeds is not necessarily the one who can do the most tricks, but the breed that possesses above average intelligence and intuition can be taught to do tasks that are helpful to humans, or tasks that certain humans are unable to perform for themselves.

Of the top ten smartest dog breeds in the world, is the Border Collie.

Border Collies are the most intelligent dogs on the planet. On nearly every ranking of dog intelligence, the Border Collie comes out on top as a highly intelligent and a highly trainable breed. Border Collies, however, are not good house dogs and they do not do good with novice dog owners. They need a lot of exercise, attention, and training, and if you do not give it to them, they will drive you crazy and destroy every possession you have.

The breed is named for the border region of England and Scotland, where shepherds bred dogs over many generations, the result of which is the perfect herding dog breed. The Border Collie deserves the title of the smartest dog breed as they are able to learn and respond to commands from their owners at a moment’s notice, and are also able to perform learned tasks without being prompted.

Shepherds were attracted by the Border Collie’s intense stare used to control livestock. It can be very hard to break their concentration when they are focused on something. Their superior intelligence allows them to complete highly complex tasks, both with stimulation from a human and independently.

When herding, the Border Collie can move with lightning speed and maintain a crouching position for long periods of time, which reminds one of a stalking cat. This prowess to make small adjustments in order to manage a herd with absolute precision is due to the unique shape of the shoulder blades.

Border Collies are exceptional at dog sports where chasing Frisbees, negotiating obstacle courses and jumping through hoops are all in a day’s work. Border Collies do better in a rural environment and with Border Collie enthusiasts who understand the intense and unique mental and physical stimulation they need.

Besides some concerns of hip dysplasia and eye problems, Border Collies are generally healthy and live to a ripe old age as trusting and loyal companions to their owner.

The term “a man’s best friend” is most appropriate when it comes to a Border Collie. Apart from being the smartest dog breeds, the Border Collie is a born athlete with a muscular, supple body, built for speed and stamina. They love to run, play and chase animals and people. With enough space to run around and plenty of attention, the Border Collie will make an ideal family pet.
