Hildene, The Lincoln Family Home
Robert Todd Lincoln was the son of our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln was born in a log cabin and later became one of our most complex presidents. A generation later, his son, Robert Todd Lincoln built his ancestral home in this scenic village. It sits on a promontory in a quintessential Vermont landscape with breathtaking views of the valley and mountains. Here you will find the home, exhibits, gardens, and walking trails on 412 preserved acres. The site is open daily June - October from 9:30 to 4:30. November - May: 11:00 to 3:00, Thursday - Monday. Closed Tuesday, Wednesday and major holidays. There is Cross-country skiing mid-December to mid-March if the weather permits 9:30 to 4:30.
