B.E.A.R. Books

B.E.A.R. stands for Bring Everything Always Ready.  This is actually a 3-ring binder you can create to hold everything students and parents need to keep up with all that is going on in school.  Inside you can keep newsletters, calendars of events, and paper especially for parents to write you a note.

They are nice because they help students establish good organizational skills their first year of school, therefore, they are recommended to be used by the first grader.  These are skills the child can carry on throughtou their lifetime in school.

  • A zipped pencil pouch in front of each Bear book helps to hold milk or lunch money or important notes.
  • Bear Books include a special section for the school parent handbook and journals.  Lists of all student names.  You can place plastic sheet protector pages in this section to hold important lists.
  • Reading logs are nice to include in the Bear Books.  The logs can have columns showing date, name of book, person read to, comments.  Children and parents record the books they have shared together.

You can basically create whatever kind of pages you want in your student's Bear Books.  The entire idea is to help teach very young children good organizational skills and to help get parents involved with what is happening with their children at school.
