Meal Replacement Drinks for Healthy Weight Loss Plans
It is not uncommon to struggle losing extra pounds. You might start out the week with very good intentions, but then in mid week, lose your sight of losing weight, by the end of the week, you might find yourself completely frustrated and disappointed for not sticking to your weight loss plan.
To finally put an end to this kind of unproductive behavior, you need to take control of the situation. Losing weight successfully is not one-dimensional. It is not only about the food you eat. It is about food, your body and your mental state. When you put these three things together, you are using the “holistic approach” and a healthy, effective way to lose weight.
Don’t be among the 40% of adults who do not participate in any leisure time physical activity. A good place to be is the fortunate few with a trim figure while living a sedentary lifestyle. This is a very “fortunate few.” Most of us need physical activity to gain a slim and healthy body. In fact, regardless of a trim figure or not, everyone needs to exercise on a regular basis for the purpose of a healthy heart, lungs and the many other chronic diseases physical activity helps guard against. In general, physically active people outlive those who are inactive.
Stress is a common component of every day life. Constant or chronic stress can cause your body to release adrenaline and cortisol hormones. These are hormones that tell the body to refuel as a kind of biological alert to consume foods laden with carbohydrates and fats. Some tips to help ease stress in your life may include:
• Appreciate the fact that you cannot do everything • Set realistic goals at home and at work • Delegate family members to help • During particularly stressful times, stretch or yawn • Try yoga to help relieve stress • Set aside time each day to appreciate what you have already accomplished in your life • Eat a variety of lean meats and poultry that include fish, beans, peas, seeds and nuts • Eat a moderate amount of fruit, fresh, frozen or canned • Drink fruit juices • Choose a variety of vegetables each day • Include calcium-rich foods that are no-fat or low-fat • Choose whole grains in bread, cereal, and pasta
If you don’t have time to prepare each meal with all that you need try substituting one or two with a meal-replacement drink. There are studies that have shown on the average, you can lose twice as much weight on a partial meal replacement plan as compared to a conventional weight-loss regimen, and you will keep the weight off longer.
A good meal replacement drink will contain an array of important vitamins and minerals that are necessary for healthy weight loss. If you really want to stop being frustrated about losing weight, try the holistic approach. Eat three good healthy meals a day (use a meal-replacement drink for one of those meals, include physical activity every day if possible, and at least three times per week if you can’t fit it in daily. Make this your first positive step on the road to a trim and healthy life. Time is often our greatest enemy when it comes to eating healthy and losing weight. It is far better to grab a meal-replacement drink than a quick hamburger from the local hamburger fast food place when you are pressed for time. You will get the vitamins and minerals you need without all the stuff that can make you “fat.”
When you choose a meal-replacement drink, choose shakes that are formulated by doctors and nutritionists to ensure superior nutrition. Watch for low-fat, low-carbohydrate and cholesterol-free meal-replacement drinks, as well as those that contain essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, amino acids, and protein. Another ingredient to look for is “soy-isolate-free” meal-replacement drinks that contain no chemical solvents. Try the following recipe to flavor up your meal-replacement shake:
VERY BERRY BLAST
• 1 cup of no-fat milk • 1 cup of frozen mixed berries • 1 scoop of vanilla meal-replacement drink powder • 1 tablespoon of sliced almonds
Blend in a blending machine.
